February 04, 2019 In addition to being one of the loveliest regions of the state, the Texas Hill Country is also home to a variety of unique and interesting small towns. Located halfway between San Antonio and Austin, Wimberly is smack in the middle of wildflower country. The community is renowned as a retreat for writers, artists, and musicians. It’s also home to a number of charming shops, including such attractions as the Old Oaks Ranch alpaca farm and yarn store, the Duchman Family Winery, that uses only Texas-grown fruit, a whimsical antique shop known as Chick-a-Dee, and the Old Mill Store, where you can find hand-crafted furniture and gifts, along with work by regional artists. However, one of Wimberly’s main claims to fame is that it is the location of the Wild West Store, and home of Ulli Johnston, commonly known as “The Boot Whisperer.” Select from over 500 hand-picked and custom-made pairs of boots, along with other western goods. With Ulli’s help, you’ll be boot scootin’ around in some fine footwear that fits like a glove. The shop is currently open only by appointment, so be sure to call (512) 847-1219 before setting out.Scoot Your Boots over to Wimberly
